GDPR baby

No one knows her but you

Always seen wandering the halls

Aileen..

And comes a-knocking on your door.

You greet Aileen with warmth and professionalism and she asks if you could help her with some stuff she is going through.

You agree and not only do you have a great session (break through’s and light bulb momentsπŸ’‘) Aileen booked in for another session with youπŸŽ‡

That is fantastic, and also means you can now help Aileen even more with her stuff!

Back up a minute there beautiful soul, re-ee-wind….

When Aileen came a-knocking, did you tell her that all the private stuff she has told you and her personal details are protected?

I’m talking GDPR baby!πŸ˜ƒ

You need to protect your cute little behind in case some cray-cray wants to hit you with some law suit in the future.

3 easy steps to start off:

πŸ‘‰ Step 1

Work out what data you need to collect from your clients. The necessary stuff like email addresses to medical history.

Think about how you’re going to keep this data safe. If it’s paper copies where are you keeping them. If its electronic, how are you protecting it online.

Also think about how long you want to keep this data and whether you will need to share it with any third parties.

πŸ‘‰ Step 2

Think about the legal reason for collecting and processing your clients data. Reasons include contract purposes (you can’t offer your service if a client hasn’t signed a contract), tax purposes (the tax man needs to know some things right), and protecting your business interest.

πŸ‘‰ Step 3

There’s other steps you need to consider as well, but this one – register with the ICO – is important.

The ICO (Information Commissioners Office) is responsible for data protection within the UK.

See GDPR – not so scary!

You just need to make sure you ALWAYS cover your sweet behind!

And if you are sticking your fingers in your ears right now (yeah I see youπŸ˜„) this is one of the things I can help you with in your private practice and will be part of my Optimise your Private Practice workshop launching in May.

Are you trying to run away right now or are you GDPR compliant? πŸ˜ƒ
